What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis has the ability to create a deep state of physical and mental relaxation. In this state, there is increased suggestibility, which allows the hypnotherapist to lead you to a desired, positive change or to help you activate your own natural healing processes.
“It is far easier to describe what hypnosis is not rather than to describe what it is. For example, it is not one person controlling the mind of another. The patient is not unconscious and does not lose control of his or her faculties. People will not do things under hypnosis that they would be unwilling to do otherwise. The person being hypnotized is always in control. The hypnotized person decides how deep the trance will be, what suggestions will be accepted, and when to awaken. ”
“Hypnosis is first and foremost a self-accepted journey away from the reality of the moment. Although the trance state is often referred to as if the patient is asleep, nothing could be further from the truth. The patient is fully awake at all times… simply in a heightened, more receptive state of mind.” – Encyclopedia of Mental disorders http://www.minddisorders.com/Flu-Inv/Hypnotherapy.html
What is hypnotherapy?

Does being hypnotized mean I lose control?

Can hypnotherapy help manage bipolar disorder and manic depression?
For most people, hypnotherapy is able to help in managing and alleviating the debilitating symptoms of bipolar disorder and manic depression. During the hypnotherapy sessions, the original cause event(s) (Initial Sensitizing Event or ISE) or the root cause will be identified. The triggering event(s) will be neutralized and the thought and feelings around it will be restructured so that the subconscious mind will be able to cope and recall the events without the unnecessary or undesirable extreme high and low reactions. The individual will then experience more balance and calm.
Are there some people who can’t come out of hypnosis?
Because hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation, there are people who don’t want to leave the hypnosis state but there has never been a documented case of someone remaining under hypnosis. In fact, coming out of hypnosis is refreshing and relaxing to most individuals who often compare this feeling to waking up from a deep or restful sleep.
If I get hypnotized, do I forget everything that happened?
When you get hypnotized, you do not forget everything that happened. People who undergo hypnosis remember everything as if recalling a dream they just had. The reason that hypnosis is used therapeutically is that positive suggestions or experiences that occur while under hypnosis are processed in the subconscious yet remembered in the conscious.
